Trauma is an emotional, psychological, and physiological response to an event or series of events that are distressing and beyond one's ability to understand or cope. Complex trauma is similar, however, stems from repeated exposure or multiple instances of traumatic experiences, often in the context of a relationship, such as childhood abuse or neglect.
The Impact of Trauma
Regardless of the type of trauma you have suffered, the symptoms you are suffering are your body and mind’s well meaning, but unwise attempts to keep you safe and protected. A counselor can help you begin to decipher and understand what you have been through, where you are, and where you are going.
