Emotional Freedom Technique
Why EFT?
Say you’ve been to therapy for a year (or even 12) and while talking out your feelings and past somewhat helped, you still leave the sessions with a heavy weight on your chest and you’re not sure if it’s ever truly going to go away. You can feel discouraged and hopeless, leading you to perhaps wonder, “am I just going to have to deal with this for the rest of my life?”
How can EFT help me?
That’s where EFT, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique, can transform all that baggage, including the doubts and uncertainties that come with clearing what could be decades worth of stored trauma in the nervous system and subconscious. I won’t promise it’s an instant fix–although there are occasions for “one-tap wonders”--but I can ensure you’ll feel at least a little bit lighter when you use this technique. Sometimes it’ll take a few rounds or a few sessions to feel the changes; it’s different for everyone depending on many factors. Worst case scenario, you give yourself a nice facial massage!
How does EFT work?
If you’re familiar with acupuncture, you’ll know that there are certain meridians, or energy lines, across the body that when stimulated, send calming signals to the brain. (If you have a fear of needles, don’t worry there’s no need for needles in this process: just your fingers!) The points we focus on tapping are only on the head and upper torso, but you don’t have to remember all of them for it to be effective in addressing the issue at hand.
